Redworms tolerate a wide range of environmental conditions, which make them ideal for composting. Our redworms, Eisenia fetida are capable of consuming up to half of their own weight daily in organic waste. The finely ground digested matter is passed out of the worm's body in the form of rich, nutritious casts. The end result, referred to as worm castings make a great organic soil amendment. During the vermicomposting process, the redworms continually tunnel in and feed on your food scraps, all the while aerating the bin.
The discounted two pound order consists of approximately 1,700 to 2,000+ worms. Dependent upon the season the worms will vary in size and length. Eisenia fetida redworms grow to an average of 4 inches maximum length. The worms are packed in breathable bags with Canadian peat moss. Should you only require one pound, just click on the drop down box below and click 1 pound. You'll see that the actual shipping weight is more than the selected poundage for worms due to the peat moss.
Our worms are shipped via USPS Priority Mail on Monday and Tuesdays 365 days a year. We GUARANTEE live delivery for every order.
Note: Although redworms will work hard in your compost pile, they won't live in garden soil.
